As this is my first blog, I feel it necessary to preface by saying I'm sorry if I am boring. My sisters got all the funny genes in our family. I just feel too old to have a myspace or facebook account (I do have a webkinz though) and figured this would be a way to keep in touch with my friends!
So this weekend has been pretty fun and creative. It all started by skipping out of work a little early on Friday to meet Sandy down at Kelleher’s for some drinks. The bosses were gone and when the cat’s away the mice will play! Saturday morning started early at 8am (well early for me cause I usually sleep til 10). I baked a cake and made frosting but then it was time to go meet some of my peeps at Fired Up. (Alicia – I can’t say enough how awesome it was to visit with you). For the past year I’ve been painting Jimmy Buffett themed dinner plates. So far I have “Wastin’ Away Again”, “It’s 5:00 Somewhere”, “Bar Maid Bring a Pitcher”, “I Gotta Go Where it’s Warm”, and yesterday I completed “Weather is Here Wish you Were Beautiful”. I love painting pottery, but unfortunately it takes about 6-8 hours to complete a plate and I don’t go unless I know I know I’m going to be able to get one done.....so I don't go that often.
After painting pottery, I got ready to meet some of my other peeps down at Rhythm Kitchen for dinner and drinks. If you are ever in the Peoria area, RK has some great food and usually has live music on Fri & Sat. Last night Jonny Quest was playing. They are AWESOME! Such a wide variety of music that anyone would be entertained listening to them. I’m pretty sure I heard Johnny Cash, Matchbox 20, Neil Diamond, The Beatles, & Tom Petty all in the same set. After RK, we headed across the street to Martinis. Kinda feel bad cause we snuck in and didn’t pay the $3 cover. Not that $3 is going to make or break me, but all we wanted to do was play video games. Jan and I rock at Photohunt!
I got home at a pretty decent time because I still had to decorate the Donald Duck cake and make one for my sister Carrie’s b-day. When I first got home I had to play a little bit with my niece and nephews. Princess Spazzy had to show me how she can do her flips (somersaults) and not to be outdone by a 3 year old I decided I needed to do one to. HOLY SCHAMOLY! I started off wrong or something because my neck and head have been hurting ever since. I’ll definitely be going to the chiro tomorrow. Guess I shouldn’t try cartwheels or the splitz anymore – I might really do some damage. I got the Donald cake done and headed to bed around 2:30.
This morning I was up at 8 to get started on Carrie’s cake. We were supposed to meet at Jen’s at noon. I was also bringing some grilled tators and I didn’t even start those til a 11:45. Julie helped peel them for me and then they cooked while I showered and got ready. I didn’t get there til a little after 1 (I HATE being late), but I think it was good I brought the tators cause it appears everyone loved them. Not as good as Jackie & Alan potatoes, but a close second. After lunch I was so tired I ended up taking a nap. Come to think of it I took a nap last Sunday too. Maybe I’m getting old? Nah – I won’t let that happen.
Now I’m just waiting for towels to be dry so I can switch laundry. It sounds like my roommate is in his room so I might even be able to watch tv downstairs tonight. Woohoo!
TTFN!
